Best Aquariums for Betta Fish

Top 5 Best Aquariums for Betta Fish: Reviews

Let’s now take a quick look at the top five best aquariums for Betta fish available on the market.

1. Marineland Aquarium Kit: Our Top Pick!

MarineLand Contour Glass Aquarium Kit with Rail Light
  • SLEEK DESIGN: Rounded corners and clear glass canopy allow viewing from multiple angles.
  • DAYLIGHT/MOONLIGHT SETTINGS: Bright white LEDs create a shimmering sunlight effect; blue LEDs...

Here I have chosen to review a slightly larger tank, with this one coming in at 3 gallons. I think a three-gallon tank should be more than enough for a single Betta fish. This is a lightweight acrylic tank, so it is very easy to maneuver and impact resistant as well, although beware that acrylic does scratch relatively easily.

I do very much like the appearance of this particular fish tank, as it comes with a black base and a black rear. Within that black rear, there is a hidden filtration system, which features three stage filtration to keep your aquarium water perfectly clean for that beautiful Betta.

Also included with your purchase is an LED lighting system suspended above the tank, which has both a daylight and a moonlight mode. All in all, I think this is by far one of the most visually attractive aquariums on the list today, and it comes complete with everything you need to get started, and all for a reasonable price.

Pros

  • Looks great
  • Filter and light included
  • Easy to maintain
  • Raised base
  • Good price
  • Impact resistant material

Cons

  • May scratch and fade with time

If you want an aquarium with a black background that will provide your Betta fish with some great contrast, then this is a tank I recommend taking a closer look at.

2. Koller Products AquaView

  • TRENDY DESIGN: Ideal for your tropical fish, this trendy aquarium will look good wherever you place...
  • DAZZLING COLORS: Energy-efficient LED lighting with 7 dazzling color selections to brightly...

This is a really neat aquarium, mainly for the reason that it features a 360 degree view, because it is round. This means that there is no rear to the tank, and you can view the fish from all angles.

It certainly looks very nice and it provides you with a stunning view of the interior of the aquarium at all times. Keep in mind that this particular unit is 2 gallons, although there are also 1.5 gallon options available.

This tank is made out of plastic, so it’s quite lightweight, and should be fairly durable as well. It comes complete with a powerful internal filter that helps to clean the water at the flow rate of 25 gallons per hour. It uses a simple filter cartridges, and does indeed provide you with all three major forms of water filtration.

It should therefore be more than enough to keep the tank clean for your Betta fish. This unit also comes concrete with LED lighting that has the ability to change to seven different colors, and this is built right into the hood of the aquarium, which is also easy to remove for easy cleaning. All in all, if you need a small Betta fish tank, this is one of my favorite options of all.

Pros

  • Comes with a filter
  • Comes with a light
  • Removable hood for easy cleaning
  • Durable plastic (impact resistance)

Cons

  • Plastic can scratch easily
  • Circular design

If you just want a small and affordable Betta fish tank with a great view, this is one I’d always recommend.

3. Tetra Bubbling LED Aquarium Kit

Tetra Bubbling LED Aquarium Kit 1 Gallon, Hexagon Shape, With Color-Changing...
  • Aquarium KIT Hexagon-shaped aquarium kit is perfect for betta fish
  • COLORFUL Bubbling disc automatically cycles through a rainbow of LED light colors

If you have a limited amount of space and just want a very small tank for your Betta fish, then this is a fantastic option to go with, as it comes in at just one gallon in size. A one gallon tank is not overly large, so you won’t be able to keep more than one Betta fish, but it should be enough room for a single fish.

What you might also like about this tank is that it features a hexagon shape, which makes it look very interesting. This also provides you with a great view of the interior. Included with your purchase you get a color changing light that sits at the bottom of the tank, interestingly enough.

It also comes complete with a Tetra whisper internal power filter that provides you with all three major forms of water filtration, therefore helping to keep water clean and clear. All in all, for the low price it comes in at, I think this is a fantastic option for Betta fish and for beginner fish keepers alike.

Pros

  • Small and space efficient
  • Ideal for 1 betta fish
  • Comes with a filter and light
  • Unique shape and viewing angles
  • Great price

Cons

  • Filter is very visible from the rear

If what you want is a Betta fish tank that has a very unique shape, this is one I recommend taking a closer look at.

4. Aqueon LED MiniBow Small Aquarium Fish Tank

Aqueon LED MiniBow Small Aquarium Fish Tank Kit with SmartClean Technology,...
  • Equipped with SmartClean(TM) Technology to perform water changes in less than 2 minute
  • Improve water quality for a happy, healthy fish

Here is a medium sized 2.5 gallon acrylic aquarium that is rather ideal for beginners and Betta fish. This is an acrylic tank, so once again, it is very lightweight and impact resistant, although it may scratch overtime, so be careful with it.

This is a rectangular tank, but it does have a bit of a bow in the front, therefore making the inside look bigger. This provides you with a very unique viewing experience, because it’s almost like the interior is magnified.

Furthermore, this product comes complete with so-called smart clean technology that allows you to perform water changes in less than two minutes.

It also features a power filter with a small cartridge that performs all major types of aquarium water filtration, and it even comes complete with its own water conditioner. The only thing that appears to not be included here is the light, which you may have to purchase separately.

Pros

  • Magnifying properties
  • Filter and hood included
  • Raised base
  • Easy water change system
  • Good size for beginners
  • Great price

Cons

  • Does not appear to come with a light

If you don’t mind an aquarium that doesn’t come in its own right, then this is a great one for Betta fish for you to consider.

5. Fluval Betta Premium Aquarium Kit

Sale
Fluval Betta Premium Aquarium Kit, 2.6 Gallon
  • Custom Betta filtration with up to 6 stage cleaning for maximum water quality and clarity, all...
  • Gentle intake features multiple slots over a large area to help slow water entry and protect...

Here I have a slightly more expensive aquarium than anything else we have listed so far today, and the reason for this is because this one is made out of glass.

As opposed to acrylic, although glass is not quite as impact resistant, let’s face it, it looks much better. It also doesn’t fade or scratch nearly as easily or as much as acrylic, therefore allowing this type of tank to look better for much longer.

Keep in mind that this is a 2.6 gallon tank, which should be just fine for Betta fish. You may also appreciate how it comes with special drainage holes to make water changes very easy. It even comes complete with its own six stage water filtration system, complete with mechanical, chemical, and biological media, to ensure that the water stays clean at all times.

This unit also comes with its own LED lighting suspended above the tank, therefore illuminating your beautiful little Betta fish. Even better is that you also get a 10-watt heater integrated right into the tank, therefore allowing you to maintain the ideal temperature for a Betta fish.

Pros

  • Ideal size for betta fish
  • Filter included
  • Light included
  • Heater included
  • Visually appealing glass design

Cons

  • Costs more than the rest

If you want a beautiful glass tank, if you don’t mind paying a bit extra for it, I’d go with this one above all others.

Aquariums for Betta Fish Buyers Guide: What to Look Out For

Let’s quickly go over some of the main considerations to keep in mind when purchasing an aquarium for a Betta fish.

Size

The tank in question should be at least one gallon in size, and ideally around two gallons. Betta fish need a bit of room to swim around in. In general, larger is better!

Filtration

I personally recommend going for an all-in-one tank or aquarium kit that comes complete with its own filter. The filter in question should be able to process at least three times the amount of water in the tank per hour, and they should perform all three major types of water filtration.

Material

Your main choices here include plastic or acrylic and glass. Glass is not very impact resistant, but it also looks nicer and it stays looking nice for a longer time, as it really doesn’t fade or scratch.

Acrylic on the other hand is much lighter and easier to maneuver and much more affordable, but it doesn’t look as nice, and it also fades and scratches very easily.

Lighting

I also recommend going for a Betta fish tank that already comes with its own light included, as every good fish tank needs a light.
